Take Me Somewhere Nicer Than Here

David Randall Howle II I think the new album captured exactly what you guys were going for. I think it's both beautiful and hauntingly melancholy in a profound way. It has the sounds and feeling of living here with that weird pull of wanting to leave.
I've lived in Memphis my whole life, but never really fit in or had a lot of friends. I've always wanted to leave and have longed for some other place that was, well, just not here.
It's exactly what I needed to hear right now. I hope someday soon to leave myself. Favorite track: Stuck Inside Memphis With The Sea Of Trees Blues.

about

I have lived in Memphis for most of my life, longer than I care to think of. The year is 2018 and I have decided to leave Memphis for good. Chuck our guitarist and artist has moved out to Los Angeles, CA to further his career as a graphic artist and illustrator in a city where I feel his talents will be far more appreciated. Ed Hollis our multi-instrumentalist and film projectionist has moved back down to New Orleans, LA to continue working on film productions. I soon will be following in their footsteps by moving myself.

So for this album, we wanted to make an album that I think encompasses the every day Memphis experience. I wanted to take the heat, humidity, the sounds of cicadas, trains, everyday Memphis sounds, the grit, dirt, and all the negative emotions we've been feeling the last few years living here and put it inside our music. This album features field recordings of everyday Memphis sounds like cicadas, trains, crickets at night, amongst other things.

On our first album "I Was Lost But Now My Feet Are Back On The Ground", we wanted to reach for the stars. This time we have crash landed on earth.
